Dear Readers,

Greetings of the day. As this is the last regular issue to be published during my tenure, I extend my warmest and most sincere gratitude to all those who helped me in completing my tenure graciously. My entire team members including those from the publishing end and also the reviewers and authors are to be applauded for their support.

In 2020, as the pandemic grew and with lockdowns and work from home, there was a sudden downpour of articles. Managing them was an arduous task, especially since the majority of our reviewers were down with COVID-19, and articles started piling up. The remaining reviewers took up the challenge, and finally, all the regular issues and the special issue were timely released. However, it lead to numerous articles published under “Ahead of Print” but pending the print version. These articles were then carried over to the next year, and again, including fresh submissions, the total list increased. Some authors could maintain their patience, but many could not be followed up by an exchange of comments and indecent phone calls. Another issue that popped up in 2020 was an urgent need to shift to a new website from the older one. This problem occurred due to hacking of the previous system as well as major data thefts. Working with both systems was different, and the biggest challenge was to make the newer system not only user-friendly but also to shift the entire previous database, especially the list of reviewers, articles submitted, their updated status, payment system, and comments to the newer system. These struggles made us much stronger, and we sailed ahead.

The turn-around-time of articles in all the phases was drastically reduced, leading to an increase in the number of submissions of manuscripts from India and abroad. The financial strength of IJPM also increased. Furthermore, it has been my particular observation that articles by foreign nationals are better written, which reduces the modification and correction time along with timely status upgradation. Special issues hold a special position in the publication system, wherein we published three issues on different important sub-topics. These issues were better cited, elevating our impact factor.

I am sure that my successor Dr. Bharat Rekhi would continue working for the betterment of IJPM by having timely and quality publications and at the same time getting better citations. My appeal to all readers is to continue submitting articles to IJPM, making it their first-choice journal.

Jai Hind!
